When using wet lava rock in your fire pit, allow the lava rock to heat up in your fire pit's flames for at least 30 minutes before enjoying your fire pit up close. In rare instances, wet lava rock can trap moisture and burst upon rapid heating. For your safety, we recommend staying 15 feet away from the flames while the lava rock is actively drying in your fire pit. Covering your fire pit to keep lava rock dry while not in use is recommended.
